Hospice care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance plans for patients who meet eligibility requirements. For virtually all Eleos patients, hospice care is provided at no cost to the patient or family.

Medicare and Hospice

The Medicare Hospice Benefit covers the full range of hospice services for patients who meet eligibility requirements. Those services include visits from the care team, medical equipment supplies, and medications related to the terminal diagnosis. Coverage continues as long as a physician recertifies that the patient remains eligible for hospice care.

Medicare Advantage plans continue to provide hospice coverage under Medicare hospice requirements when a patient elects the hospice benefit.

Medicaid and Private Insurance

Medicaid also provides comprehensive hospice coverage for eligible patients, following the same framework as Medicare.

For patients under 65 with private insurance, most plans provide hospice coverage as well, although benefits and terms may vary by plan.
